Helping Brands with Wholesale Sourcing in Los Angeles: My Return to the LA Fashion District
After packing everything I owned into a U-Haul and driving across the country alone, I officially moved back to Los Angeles to rebuild my businesses, expand my fashion empire, and create new opportunities for fashion entrepreneurs through the LA Fashion District.
But this wasn’t just a personal move.
It was a business move.
And more importantly, it was a move designed to improve access for boutique owners, clothing brands, and entrepreneurs trying to build their businesses from outside Los Angeles.
In my latest YouTube video, I take you behind the scenes of:
- wholesale vendor placement
- wholesale sourcing in Los Angeles
- live sourcing
- shopping the LA Fashion District
- boutique inventory sourcing
- and the future of my businesses in LA
What Is Wholesale Vendor Placement?
One of the first services I launched after returning to Los Angeles was Wholesale Vendor Placement through Fashion Formula 101.
This service is designed for boutique owners and clothing brands that want access to:
- LA wholesale vendors
- showroom inventory
- line sheets
- product sourcing
- fashion district relationships
- vendor recommendations
- wholesale pricing assistance
- sourcing support
Without physically traveling to Los Angeles themselves.
Instead of simply sharing wholesale vendor lists online, I physically shop the wholesale vendors for clients, review products in person, discuss pricing and quality, and help brands source strategically.
Behind the Scenes Shopping in the LA Fashion District
In the video, I documented part of a real vendor placement session where I helped a client source inventory for her upcoming boys’ boutique in the LA Fashion District.
During the sourcing trip, we:
- discussed wholesale pricing
- reviewed inventory
- explored size ranges
- discussed retail vs wholesale costs
- compared vendors
- explored sample purchasing
- discussed boutique collection building
This is the side of the fashion industry most people never get to see online.
Many wholesale vendors:
- do not fully showcase products online
- have hidden inventory
- offer in-person opportunities
- release new arrivals first in showrooms
- provide better insight in person
Which is exactly why location matters so much in the fashion industry.
Vendor Placement vs Live Sourcing
One of the biggest questions people have asked me is:
“What’s the difference between Vendor Placement and Live Sourcing?”
While both services involve shopping in the LA Fashion District, they serve different purposes.
Wholesale Vendor Placement
Vendor Placement focuses on:
- wholesale showrooms
- boutique inventory sourcing
- fashion business development
- vendor relationships
- line sheets and catalogs
- product sourcing assistance
This service is primarily for businesses with resale certificates looking to source wholesale inventory strategically.
Live Sourcing
Live Sourcing takes place during the Saturday LA wholesale sample sale, where I shop inventory live in real time for registered participants.
This service allows people without resale certificates to:
- shop inventory
- purchase products
- source inventory remotely
- access the LA Fashion District live
without physically traveling to Los Angeles.
Trying On Wholesale Sample Sale Finds
One of the fun parts of the video was trying on some of the products I purchased from the LA wholesale sample sale.
I reviewed:
- knit lounge pants
- business casual knit trousers
- dresses
- stretchy denim
- boutique-style fashion pieces
And I also explained:
- quality expectations
- fit
- wholesale sample sale inventory
- using samples for marketing
- testing products before buying wholesale
This is one of the biggest advantages of sourcing directly in Los Angeles.
Why I Moved Back to Los Angeles
The move back to LA was bigger than simply relocating.
Los Angeles is where:
- I built my fashion career
- developed my businesses
- created my brand identity
- learned the industry
- and found the environment in which I truly work best
While the move itself was challenging, I knew it was necessary.
Over the last two years, many of my businesses became stagnant because of personal challenges and life transitions.
I realized that if I truly wanted to:
- expand Nouveau Riche Apparel
- grow Riche Stitch
- relaunch Fashion Formula 101
- and build the future I envisioned
I needed to return to the center of the fashion industry environment I thrive in.
Why Location Matters in Fashion Business
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that location matters.
Especially in fashion.
Being close to:
- wholesale vendors
- fabrics
- manufacturing
- production
- showrooms
- stylists
- and industry opportunities
creates a completely different level of access.
But I also understand that not everyone can relocate to Los Angeles or constantly travel back and forth.
That’s part of why I created these sourcing services.
To bridge that gap.
The Future of Fashion Formula 101
Fashion Formula 101 is entering an entirely new era.
What originally started as an educational platform is now evolving into:
- wholesale sourcing support
- vendor placement
- live sourcing
- fashion district access
- boutique development assistance
- and behind-the-scenes fashion business education
And this is honestly just the beginning.
